Compress a video to upload it to a Google Form

In a Google Form the owner chooses the maximum file size for each upload question: 1 MB, 10 MB, 100 MB, 1 GB or 10 GB. The question shows the limit — fit your video under it.

Your files stay on your device. Nothing is uploaded.

Find the limit

Under the upload question Google Forms shows “Max 10 MB” (or another size). The slider starts just under 10 MB, the most common choice — move it under 100 MB or 1 GB if the form allows more.

What fits

Why the upload asks for Google sign-in

File upload questions save files to the form owner’s Google Drive, so Google asks respondents to sign in. That is part of Google Forms, not of the compressor — compression itself needs no account.

Questions

What is the Google Forms upload limit?

The form owner sets it per question: 1 MB, 10 MB, 100 MB, 1 GB or 10 GB. The question shows which one.

Why can’t I upload my video to a Google Form?

It is bigger than the question’s limit, or the form owner’s Drive is full. Compress the video under the shown size.

Is my video uploaded to compress it?

No. Compression runs in your browser; the video only goes to the form when you submit it.
