A FreeConvert alternative with no daily limit and no upload
FreeConvert converts almost any format and has a capable video compressor. Its free plan allows files up to 1 GB, 20 conversion minutes per day and 5 minutes per file, and files are processed on its servers. CompressLab has no quotas because your own device does the work.

When FreeConvert is the better choice
- You need an unusual format — audio, documents, images, archives — FreeConvert converts hundreds of them.
- Your browser can’t encode video (for example Firefox on Android).
When CompressLab is the better choice
- You hit the daily limit: CompressLab has no conversion minutes — compress as much as you like.
- Your file is over 1 GB: a 20-minute 4K phone video is several gigabytes.
- You’d rather not upload the video at all, or your upload speed is slow — nothing leaves your device here.
- You want to compress whole folders and keep the folder structure.
What CompressLab can’t do
- Speed depends on your device: a recent laptop compresses an hour of 1080p in minutes, an old phone is much slower.
- It needs a modern browser — Chrome, Edge or Opera, Safari 16.4+ or Firefox on a computer. Firefox on Android can’t encode video yet.
- It is a set of focused tools (compress, trim, subtitles, TV), not a full editor with text, music and transitions.
